Portimao is one of the most populous towns in the Algarve, along with Faro. Located in western Algarve, Portimao is home to some excellent beaches and a wide range of shops as well as a shopping mall in the town centre.
With several cafes, restaurants and bars to dine at, you will be spoilt for choice and wondering where to go next for your next meal!
We recommend you visit Portimao Marina, a visual delight due to the surrounding buildings' ochre and terracotta colour scheme which contrasts incredibly with the white boats and deep blue ocean.
The Algarve region of Portugal is the sunniest, driest, and warmest part of the country, although it is rarely unpleasantly hot. Sea temperatures here are also warm. The region has a typical Mediterranean climate. Winters are mild, and have higher rainfall, although this is still very low - the maximum is 70mm in the month of Jan, June - Aug have the lowest rainfall with just 1mm per month!
